Packed bed columns

1.-Description: packed bed columns or absorption columns, constitute a part of the group of air pollution control equipment where the gas stream is forced to follow an upstream path with a liquid through a packing bed, previously selected and calculated to ensure the efficiency of the removal of the contaminant, on which a uniform liquid flow is impacted. The pollutant is retained downward and is collected at the bottom of the column to make a recirculation circuit within a loop control to avoid saturation of the liquid.

2.- Ranges of design: within the product list that Lapsolite offers, there are absorption columns which are able to manage flows from 1,000 m3/h up to 150,000 m3/h.

3.- Applications: They are typically used in the chemical, aluminium, coke, ferrous alloys, foods, agricultural and chromed by electro-plated industries.

4.- Benefits:

     a) A relatively low drop pressure.

     b) The ability to collect both particulate matter as well as gases.

     c) The removal of gaseous pollutants with maximum efficiency.

     d) The type of packing can be changed to improve the mass transfer without the purchase of new equipment.

     e) Relatively little space requirement.
